SPORTS EVENT COVERAGE(First Aid Coverage)As a way to prevent further injuries, TPR also offers event coverage to the community. This includes: Sideline Assessment and Return to Play; Prevention; Emergency Care (Concussions, Spinal Injuries, etc.)
Sideline Assessment and Return to Play The decision to return an athlete with a ‘minor’ injury to activity or competition needs to be made with the athlete’s best interests in mind. Athletic Therapists use proven techniques such as standardized concussion protocols, orthopedic and functional testing to assess the extent of the injury and determine the risk of returning to participation. Confident decisions to return to play may be combined with the appropriate taping, bracing, or wrapping techniques to ensure the best care for the athletes and their injuries. Prevention When working with athletes, teams, or events, an Athletic Therapist’s main goal is to prevent injuries from occurring. Prevention techniques range from facility inspections to ensuring proper warm-up and cool-down protocols. Your Athletic Therapist can also use more specialized skills such as preventative taping, bracing, wrapping, padding, injury prevention, modalities, proper hydration strategies, and equipment fitting. No matter what your sport or activity, an Athletic Therapist can help ensure your athletes’ safety. Emergency Care Athletic Therapists are specialists in the prevention, care, and management of sports injuries. From minor injuries such as wounds, sprains, and strains to more serious injuries such as fractures, concussions, and spinal injuries, an Athletic Therapist will provide top quality emergency care. Athletic Therapists can also provide home programs and clinical rehabilitation to follow up on injuries and ensure they are healing properly. |
